Privacy notice
Last updated: 7 November 2026. This notice explains what personal information Groundwork collects, why, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Groundwork is a trading name of Finlay Inwards, based in Milton Keynes. We are responsible for your information. Contact: hello@groundworkweb.co.uk.
What we collect
- When you ask for a free website check: your name, business name, email, phone number (if given), trade, town and website address.
- When you become a customer: the details we need to build your site and invoice you, such as content, photos and payment records.
- When we contact businesses first: we use business contact details that are publicly available, such as the company name and registered details on Companies House, and the contact information published on the company's own website.
Why we use it, and our lawful basis
- To send the report you asked for and reply to you. This is necessary to take the steps you've asked for before any contract.
- To build and look after your website, and to invoice you. This is necessary to perform our contract with you, and to meet our legal duties such as keeping accounts.
- To contact businesses about our services. This is our legitimate interest in promoting our business. We only email limited companies and LLPs at their business addresses, we say who we are in every message, and you can opt out at any time.
Who we share it with
We don't sell your information. We use a small number of service providers to run the business: our web host, our email provider and our payment provider. They act on our instructions. We'll share information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Free check requests and enquiries that don't turn into work: 12 months, then deleted. Customer records: 6 years after our last invoice, as required for tax purposes. If you opt out of contact, we keep your business name and email on a do-not-contact list so we don't contact you again.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, object to how we use it, or ask us to stop contacting you. Email hello@groundworkweb.co.uk and we'll respond within one month.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

This site doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies, and it loads no third-party scripts.
